Quality Assurance Coordinator/MDS Coordinator - Samaritan Medical Center (Watertown, NY)
The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for planning and overseeing a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure compliance with federal and state mandated quality standards for Samaritan Keep Home and Samaritan Summit Village.
The incumbent performs a variety of compliance functions to assure the agency is prepared for Medicare and Medicaid audits and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) survey at all times. These functions include staff development, in-service training, quality assurance, client review, credentialing, and competency testing. The incumbent will conduct and coordinate policy review, development, and implementation subject to standards of best practices. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Directors of Nursing at Samaritan Keep Home and Samaritan Summit Village. The incumbent is expected to work as a team member in promoting excellence in nursing standards. In the absence of the MDS Coordinator the incumbent will maintain current MDS status of each resident according to state and federal guidelines as required under the Omnibus Reconciliation Act, Medicare PPS + Medicaid payment systems as applicable. Responsible for MDS/RUGS education. Provide MDS education for staff. Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program. Current NYS RN License Required. Previous experience within an LTC/Geriatric unit required. Knowledge of Nursing and Medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care, including PPS. Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid and payor regulations. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of computer systems, system applications and other office equipment.
